Hedge Fund - Driehaus Capital

Richard Driehaus Bio, Returns, AUM, Net Worth

Richard Driehaus has been playing the stock market since he was just 13 years old. He bought his first stocks using money earned as a paper delivery boy. His motto is simple - "Everyone wants to be rich, but few want to work for it." Apparently, you also need to be savvy. When Driehaus was a young boy in Catholic school, one of his teachers asked the class what 3% of $10,000 was. Richard Driehaus was the only one that didn't respond. When the teacher asked him why, he said, "Sister, I'm just not interested in 3%." That sentiment does not seem to have changed at all over the years.

Richard Driehaus founded his Driehaus Capital Management in 1982. Since then, the firm has become well-known for its expertise in aggressive growth equity investment management, so much so that Driehaus was named to Barron's All-Century team of the 25 most influential people within the mutual fund industry over the last 100 years. Driehaus prides himself on using a value-based process but he doesn't believe in a standard evaluation method. Richard Driehaus explains: "The real word is not that precise. I'm convinced that there is no universal valuation method. In fact, in the short run, valuation is not the key factor." He prefers to "buy good stocks of good companies and hold on to them until there are favorable changes."
