I remember my freshman college roommate telling me she didn’t like the taste of beer. I do not understand this person. Is your tongue broken?  How can we continue to share a bunkbed after this fundamental difference has been revealed? Somehow we managed–but college teaches you to accept those who are different from you. Later at my first company, I worked with someone who hated whiskey, even the smell, again I felt like I was speaking a different language. How can you hate my beloved! However, diversity is critical to life–including diversity of taste.

So welcome all you who don’t enjoy the good smoky burn of a bourbon or the herbaceous juniper tickle of a gin.  If you want to, maybe in time, and with persistence, you can learn to like the taste of good booze. But you also don’t have to do so. This is 2017! If you don’t like something don’t drink it. Life is too short. Never trust someone who says “I know you don’t like X, but just try it.” What kind of scam are they trying to pull?

Mixed drinks or cocktails, as they are more popularly known, have been around since the beginning of the 19th century. Cocktails are as combinations of juices, different alcohols, tonics, water and fruit or other garnishes. They are best for social drinking, and many of them taste better than straight alcohol. We are currently in the denouement of a cocktail craze sweeping the nation, started mostly by Mad Men and Sascha Petraske.

Apart from cocktails, there are also other alcoholic drinks that do not taste like alcohol. These drinks usually have lower alcohol content and therefore the taste is not as strong as the others.

The data used in this list were sourced from Pop Sugar and Leaf.TV. The drinks are not ranked, and are in no particular order–as taste is, of course, very subjective. They’re called taste’buds’ because they are there for you in a way no one else truly could be–to report to you when drinks are delicious.
