Eminence Capital is a New York based hedge fund that was founded by Ricky Sandler in 1998. Ricky Sandler, 42 years old, started his career in 1991 as a research analyst at Mark Asset Management. At the age of 25, he started Fusion Partners with Wayne Cooperman.

However, the partnership did not live long as Cooperman and Sandler’s investment philosophies started to differ. Ricky Sandler started his own hedge fund, Eminence Capital, in 1998. Eminence Capital returned around 13.2% annually between its inception and middle of 2011, beating S&P 500's 2.2% annual return. Eminence Capital has around $3.6 billion under management. Ricky Sandler attended University of Wisconsin and received his BBA in Finance and Accounting with honors in 1991. Ricky Sandler holds a CFA designation and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

Ricky Sandler keeps track of a company’s value, of course, but puts just as much emphasis on a company’s quality and growth potential. In contrast to some value investors, he might prefer a good company at a so-so price to a low-quality company at a cheap price; he likes to see a combination of substantial undervalation and future growth in equity value per share. His highest-conviction positions tend to be those where he not only likes the combination of quality and value but also sees a catalyst in the sense that the market’s perception of the company will change in the medium term.
