Edward G. Beddow And William D. Tichy Bio, Returns, AUM, Net Worth

Beddow Capital Management Incorporated functions as an investment management firm, offering financial planning, portfolio, and asset management, as well as advisory services to a diverse clientele that includes individuals, pension and profit-sharing plans, trusts, estates, charitable organizations, and small businesses. The company extends its services globally to clients around the world.

Edward G. Beddow, with over 35 years of professional experience in financial markets, plays a pivotal role at Beddow Capital Management. Having served as a Vice President in Dean Witter Reynolds' investment banking group in the late 1970s, he gained extensive expertise in public and private financings, undertaking valuation studies related to mergers, acquisitions, and significant capital projects. Since 1987, he has dedicated his efforts exclusively to investment management. Ed is a member of prestigious organizations such as the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Francisco, and the Investment Advisor Association (formerly the Investment Counsel Association of America). As a portfolio manager, Ed employs a contrarian approach, emphasizing investments in securities whose underlying value is not currently reflected in the markets. Notably, he aligns his personal capital investments with the same value philosophy as client portfolios. Before establishing his firm, Ed earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and served as a military officer for five years in West Germany and the United States. Ed is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and, during the summer months, indulges his passion for fly fishing in the Teton mountains, where Beddow Capital Management maintains an office in Jackson, WY. He also enjoys hiking and aspires to compete in the One Fly Tournament someday.

William D. Tichy served as the Director of Research at Beddow Capital Management from 1993 to 2015. Beginning his career at Dean Witter in 1965 in Honolulu, Bill later joined the International Department in their New York City office. After relocating to San Francisco, he headed Dean Witter’s West Coast Special Situation research group, specializing in the analysis of independent oil and gas companies. Bill, an experienced analyst, closely collaborated with Dean Witter’s Corporate Finance Department, providing assistance with asset valuations and actively participating in numerous initial public offerings. He graduated from Ripon College in Wisconsin and furthered his education with courses in accounting, corporate finance, and security analysis at New York University, New York Institute of Finance, and the University of California.

Beddow Capital Management, with its base in Jackson, operates as a large advisory firm with 63 clients and discretionary assets under management (AUM) totaling $227,243,621, according to their Form ADV dated March 2023. Their most recent 13F filing for Q3 2023 reported $205,077,000 in managed 13F securities, featuring a top 10 holdings concentration of 46.59%.
