Valiant Capital, a $2.7-billion global long/short equity hedge fund managed by Christopher R. Hansen, has reported its equity portfolio as held at the end of the last year. The total value of Valiant Capital’s equity portfolio amounted to around $1.39 billion, slightly up from about $1.17 billion disclosed at the end of the third quarter of 2013.
From the Valiant Capital’s latest 13F, we have selected top five holdings in terms of value that the fund has held in its equity portfolio at the end of last year.
The first on the list is Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), in which Valiant Capital revealed holding 258,431 shares. The number of shares remained unchanged from the third quarter, but the value of the holdings increased to around $144.99 million from $123.21 million.
Coming second is Liberty Global plc (NASDAQ:LBTYA), in which the fund owns 935,948 class A ordinary shares, worth around $83.30 million. The stake represents decrease from 1.02 million shares the fund held at the end of the third quarter.
In Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), the fund disclosed holding 74,209 shares, with a reported value of $83.17 million. The stake was slightly down from 87,749 shares Valiant Capital held at the end of the third quarter. For fourth-quarter 2013, the search engine giant reported consolidated revenues of $16.86 billion, an increase of 17% compared to the fourth quarter of 2012.
The fourth-largest holding in Valiant Capital’s equity portfolio is represented by Equinix Inc (NASDAQ:EQIX), a new position in which the fund reported owning 442,700 shares, worth $78.56 million. Equinix Inc (NASDAQ:EQIX) is a provider of interconnection and data center services. The company last month named Donald Badoux as managing director of the company’s German division.
The fifth position is Anheuser Busch Inbev SA (ADR)(NYSE:BUD), in which Valiant Capital owns 698,912 shares, with a reported value of around $74.41 million. The stake remained unchanged over the quarter. The company is engaged in the production and distribution of several beer brands.
