Let’s take a view of the different situations in the world with the 11 least technologically advanced countries in the world. With recent technological advancements we’ve seen in the last few decades, society has grown far from what it was 40 to 50 years ago. In our modern world we enjoy things now common and essential to us that weren’t as present or as accessible before. We have witnessed the rise of the internet, the popularity of smart and digital devices. Better and higher quality products, faster processing speeds, the ability to connect with anyone from anywhere among a lot more other things. Even in some parts of the world, technology truly moves forward with robotics, nanotechnology, improved and secure transport systems and military machinations. We somehow sometimes forget that there are parts of the world that are still lacking or have yet to go far with any technological advancement. There are some places where poverty is rampant and education is unusual, there are some places where research and development aren’t a priority, and as a result development is scarce and scattered. Most of the countries in this list occupy the Asian and African parts of the world, as they have also been pointed out by the UN as the places who need help the most to get out of poverty and lack of technology. With that, let’s go ahead and start this list:

11. Bangladesh

Bangladesh has seen turmoil for most of the recent years and decades. From oppression and the lack of human rights, to civil war and unrest, Bangladesh has only seen the technological advancements of our modern world in recent years. Yet even with all these advancements, the country is still suffering from political instability, corruption and disassociation.

10. Uganda

Uganda is one of the countries that suffer a cut-off from technological advancements mainly due to an oppressive and corrupt system. This is a country where child labor is common, torture and extrajudicial killings considered typical. This coupled with an overpopulation problem has made quite an environment for this country.

9. Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is often a country mentioned or shown in the movies, with constant local wars and social and corruption problems. Living conditions can be harsh and even internet is sparse around the country. Development has been slow but there have been signs of improvements in recent years.

8. Laos

Another country known to many as one of the most corrupt in the world, corruption here stems from different regions of government as well as the military. This has turned off most investors and global corporations which in turn creates a gap of technology for Laos. Another cause for concern here is the continuous illegal farming of natural resources.

7. Tanzania

This African country’s biggest problems are its lack of funding and support as well the rampant crime throughout most of its areas. Electricity cut-offs and blackouts here are common because of underdeveloped electric plants and valuable equipment and parts being stolen off for personal profit.

6. Mozambique

Mozambique is a land rich in natural resources misplaced and undervalued. Coming off of a recent civil war, development is not a priority and the country itself even lacks any primary schools.

5. Lesotho

Lesotho, another African country is a stream of social problems and poverty. With most of its population earning only $1.25 a day, reports of rape, violence and sexual abuse are common in this country.

4. Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is a country often experiencing water shortage, which tells a lot about where the country is in regards to technology. Wars, ousting and “liberation” has littered throughout the past of this country, so most developments and constitutions are eradicated and set anew by a different government, resulting in a lacking country.

3.  Cambodia

Another country that experiences constant human rights violations, education is not even promoted or established in this populous country. Trading and communication with large parts of the country is cut-off, leaving them mostly primitive.

One of the earliest civilizations of the world, Bhutan is the same now as it was even then. With most structures and tools still made from old and primitive materials and the country still under a monarchy. Bhutan is still considered though a haven of history and a view into the past.

After the devastating Haitian earthquake, and even before so, Haiti remains as the least technologically advanced country in the world; the country lacks educational facilities/systems, telecommunications, electricity facilities, internet, research. Even before the recent calamity Haiti had troubles declaring independence from colonizers that regarded them as non-existent.
