Google Inc (GOOGL) Experiments the Best Quality Videos it Ever Tried to Stream

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s YouTube team is now testing the best quality videos they have ever tried to stream yet.

First noticed by TechCrunch, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s video streaming service is reportedly now testing 4K resolution videos streamed at a high 60 frames per second frame rate.

For those who don’t know exactly what 4K resolution is, that’s at least 3,840 by 2,160 pixels in a picture. In contrast, 1080p or what’s normally called Full High Definition is a resolution with 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. At this quality, the video one would be watching would technically show them 60 3,840 by 2,160 pixels images in a single second.

Nonetheless, TechCrunch notes that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is still just experimenting with this quality for videos. Only few will really benefit from the existence of videos with this quality on YouTube.

Assuming you have a fast enough internet connection to be able to download the considerably bigger file in real time to watch a video in 4K 60FPS, you’d also need a 4K monitor or a 4K Smart TV or 4K TV hooked up to your computer to really, really be experiencing 4K 60 FPS on YouTube.

Even after that, people would have a very limited selection of videos to watch in this quality as the playlist linked by TechCrunch of videos with this quality only contain five videos.

However, one has to hand it to Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s YouTube Developers team for working on streaming these types of videos early on so that when the world catches up and 4K 60 FPS streaming is already feasible for normal internet users, they would be ready with the technology to do so.

Ryan Pedlow’s Two Creeks Capital Management owned 215,131 Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares by the end of 2014.
