The reasoning was straightforward: a conservative, defensive business at a distressed price. Bread is one of the most resilient consumer categories: non-discretionary, habitual, and remarkably stable across economic cycles. Flowers is the second-largest player behind Grupo Bimbo, backed by a direct-store-delivery network that’s expensive for competitors to replicate.
