Fermi Inc. (FRMI) Rockets 19% as Project Matador Development Accelerates

Fermi Inc. (NASDAQ:FRMI) climbed by as much as 19.46 percent on Friday to $7.55 apiece, as investors cheered the ramped-up development of its flagship Project Matador campus in Texas, while investors positioned their portfolios ahead of its upcoming earnings release.

In a statement earlier in the week, the company said that three natural gas turbines from Siemens Energy have officially arrived at the Port of Houston on Tuesday and are ready for delivery to the campus. The three turbines are rated up to 780 megawatts in simple cycle mode, and mark the largest single power equipment move.

Project Matador—currently the listed firm’s flagship development—spans more than 7,500 acres in Carson County, Texas, and is designed to deliver 17 GW of power from lower-carbon natural gas, advanced nuclear, solar, and battery storage to premier tenants.

Q2 Earnings in Spotlight

Investors also positioned portfolios ahead of the results of Fermi Inc.’s (NASDAQ:FRMI) earnings performance in the second quarter of the year.

The results are scheduled to be released on August 13 before the market opens. A conference call will be held to elaborate on the results.

The second quarter marked a transitional period for Fermi Inc. (NASDAQ:FRMI) as it operated without a permanent chief executive officer following the forceful removal of ex-chief, Toby Neugebauer.

Neugebauer was temporarily replaced by interim co-CEOs, Jacobo Ortiz and Anna Bofa to oversee operations during leadership transition.

Investors are expected to watch for the company’s business outlook for the rest of the year, including any developments on its leadership composition.

Additional Shares

Also on Friday, investors looked past the dilution impact of the company’s plan to list 12.13 million more shares on the London Stock Exchange.

According to Fermi Inc. (NASDAQ:FRMI), the additional shares are intended to pay certain advisers and settle employee stock awards, rather than being sold to raise fresh funds.

Admission to the Exchange is expected to take place at 8 AM on Wednesday, July 29.

Following the admission, the company would have more than 640.4 million shares with voting rights traded on the LSE.
