Facebook Action Games: Facebook Hoping to Bring More Action Games to its Platform

Facebook Action Games: Facebook Inc. (FB)It is only natural for Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) to become more involved with action games in the near future. Many are longing for this and there is a large group who feel that it is long overdue.

But in true Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) fashion, they have taken their time in moving forward. However, it appears that the time is now.

Here is an excerpt from a recent article published on Reuters.com:

“Facebook is spearheading the launch of 10 high-quality games created by third-party developers in 2013 that squarely target so-called hardcore gamers, an atypical audience overlooked thus far against the wealth of family-friendly offerings like Zynga Inc’s “Farmville” that now dominate the social network’s gaming landscape.”

It appears that 2013 is going to be the year in which the company takes the bull by the horns and finally gives hardcore gamers the type of action they have been craving. How can you take 2013 by the horns? Continue reading here to find out.

Although the months to follow are going to be when the real movement takes place, this is something Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has been working on for quite some time.

The article adds the following:

“The effort, which began late last year but will accelerate in 2013, is part of Facebook’s ongoing objective of making sure its 1 billion-plus users log in and spend more time on the network, which in turn boosts ad revenue. Facebook also takes a cut of its applications’ revenue.”

In other words, the social networking giant is not doing this just to satisfy the appetite of these gamers. There is a method to their madness. By offering more games, such as these, a growing number of people will log in and spend time on the site. Subsequently, they are able to use this to their advantage when securing advertising deals. And of course, Facebook takes part of the revenue generated by each game.

Sean Ryan, head of game partnerships at Facebook added the following in a recent interview as quoted by Reuters:

“You’ll see a whole set of games hitting in the next two quarters in particular and throughout the year that really start to redefine what people think of Facebook games.”

So, that is that. Straight from the horse’s mouth. In the next several months, expect a growing number of fresh Facebook games to be released.
