Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) have restored investors’ faith in tech stocks, as these three companies were star performers of the industry this year. That of course comes with the assumption that nothing too drastic is going to happen in the next 29 days or so, which could possibly wipe off the gains that these stocks made this year.
In an article on USA Today, Brett Molina, highlighted the gains Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) have made this year, and what can be expected from these stocks during the holiday season.
While Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) might have faced a slight pull back of about 3% yesterday, the stock is up more than 60%, as compared to the same time last year, according to Molina.
A new advertisement tool that enables the social network platform to collect data from its subscribers’ mobiles, an intention to expand into the markets of China and areas of India, which still do not have internet access were some of the areas which Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s capitalized on recently.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) on the other hand has made strong gains amounting to 25% since June this year, when a 7-to-1 stock split was enacted by the tech giant, according to Molina. With the upcoming Christmas season, the tech giant is expected to only add more weight to its already record number of iPhone sales.
Speaking of the Christmas season, brings us to another star of our list, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA). The stock is up nearly 60% in just about two and a half months after its IPO. The Chinese e-commerce giant is also expected to cash in on the shopping fervor during the holiday season.
Moreover, the e-commerce mogul has shown that it can be very innovative and it has even constructed its own shopping frenzy events such as the Singles Day, celebrated on the 11th of November every year. Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) looks a very promising investment going into next year.
