Clover Health (CLOV) Gets New ‘Buy’ Call, Higher PT, Climbs 8.5%

Clover Health Investments (NASDAQ:CLOV) grew its share price by 8.53 percent on Thursday to finish at $4.71 apiece, as investors took heart from Deutsche Bank’s optimistic rating for its stock.

In its initial coverage of the stock, the investment firm assigned a buy recommendation on shares of Clover Health Investments alongside a price target of $6 apiece. The figure marked a 27.4 percent upside potential from its latest closing price.

The coverage reflected the investment firm’s optimism for the insurer’s growth runway in Medicare Advantage plans and the promise of its Clover Assistant technology platform and non-delegated risk model.

The rating came ahead of the listed insurer’s participation in two conferences next week—the 2026 Jefferies Healthcare Services and Technology Conference on Tuesday, September 15, and the Deutsche Bank 2026 Healthcare Summit on Wednesday, September 16.

Strong Q2

Clover Health Investments reported a strong earnings performance in the second quarter of the year, having swung to a net income of $28 million from a $10.6 million net loss in the same period last year, on the back of strong membership growth in Medicare Advantage.

Total revenues surged by 55.6 percent to $743.2 million from $477.6 million year-on-year.

Medicare Advantage membership increased by 48 percent to 157,309.

Higher Growth Outlook

Following the strong results, Clover Health Investments raised its net income guidance to a range of $20 million to $35 million from a maximum of $20 million as expected previously.

Revenues are now expected to be in a range of $2.92 billion to $3 billion, from $2.81 billion to $2.92 billion previously.

Adjusted EBITDA is projected at $70 million to $85 million, higher than its previous outlook of $50 million to $70 million.

Hedge Fund Holdings Soar Fourfold

Institutional investors turned out strong in the second quarter of the year, with conviction soaring by 375 percent quarter-on-quarter.

Data from Insider Monkey showed that 24 hedge funds held positions in the stock, up from only 18 in the quarter prior.

More notably, their combined holdings climbed to $79.06 million from $16.6 million quarter-on-quarter.
