Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk’s cryptic tweet has put media frenzy into overdrive mode. His tweet posted on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) last Thursday simply reads ‘About time to unveil the D and something else’ and was accompanied by a picture of what could be headlights of a car peeking out of a partially opened shutter and the date October 9, 2014. With only a couple of days to go for the big Tesla mystery unveil, wild speculations about what it could be about are making the rounds. Musk had previously hinted that plans to introduce automated driving technology into Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) vehicles were on the cards. This led many agencies to venture a guess that Tesla will be unveiling a super car with hands-free driving ability this Thursday. Umar, however, noted that a source for Bloomberg had claimed that the Tesla will be introducing a battery of cutting edge features. One of them is expected to be the technology that makes sure that cars stay do not change lane. “Tesla is set to offer a suite of high-tech features, including one that keeps the car in its lane,” she said.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s Nevada Gigafactory, which is expected to churn out low cost and highly efficient batteries, has generated a lot of hope among fans of the electric car manufacturer who do not have deep enough pockets to own a Tesla Model S. And now, it is this tweet from CEO Musk that is being held in the limelight. But Tesla might not be the only automobile manufacturer working on producing automated cars.

“Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has been working on cars with connectivity features, while General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) CEO Mary Barra announced hands-free, feet-free highway driving on certain Cadillac models by 2016,” she reported.
