BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY): John Chen Happy About BES12 Cloud, Considers Android A Good Business Area

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s CEO, John Chen, said that he is happy with his company’s BES12 Cloud product and that he considers Android to be a good business area for BlackBerry.

The remarks were made by the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) chief in an interview with Jon Fortt for CNBC.

“I always believe that small and medium business is A: there’s a lot of them [and] B: it’s going to be the future of big business, so it’s important that we get in the door early. I feel good about [BES12 Cloud]. Our cloud is very competitive. The pricing is quite competitive. We’re seeing traction,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) boss said that Samsung is a “huge player” in Android implying that his company is pleased to deepen ties with the consumer electronics giant. Chen also talked about Google, the main patron of Android.

“I forgot to mention this morning, we signed a good agreement with Google on Android for work. Our BES is supporting Android for work. […] The Android ecosystem is more embracing of partners today. This will definitely be a good business area for us,” Chen told Fortt.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) recently announced plans to debut more phones this year. The company also stressed that it is committed to concentrating more on software and generating revenue from these projects.

Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Financial Holdings remained the largest institutional investor in BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) after the end of 2014. By the end of the December quarter, the firm owned about 46.65 million shares of BlackBerry.
