Apple Inc. (AAPL) May Include Siri, Dedicated App Store In New Apple TV This June

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could be integrating Siri and a dedicated app store for a new version of the Apple TV which may be launched this June.

According to Buzzfeed News, “sources familiar with the company’s plan” say that a new version of the Apple TV “is headed to market”. the move comes after Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) recently marked down the price of the Apple TV to $69.

When Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shows off the new Apple TV at the annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, the firm will be showing off a dedicated app store for the device as well as a software development kit for developers keen on making apps for this particular app store.

Furthermore, Buzzfeed San Francisco Managing Editor John Paczkowski writes that his sources tell him that the new Apple TV will support Siri voice control.

Apart from those developments, the hardware itself will understandably be getting upgrades. The new Apple TV is said to feature the new A8 chip and more than 8GB of storage to accommodate storage of more apps and content. Furthermore, a new remote may be debuted by the consumer electronics giant at the WWDC.

According to Paczkowski, the new Apple TV underpins Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s push to own the “digital living room”. An updated and more powerful Apple TV coincides with the company’s rumored plan to debut a streaming television service.

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty wrote in a note this week that the rumored subscription TV service, if launched, may help push Apple’s “services” category of products to account for 20% of the company’s earnings.

Hari Hariharan’s NWI Management added Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares to its portfolio during the last quarter of 2014. The firm owned 1.16 million shares in the consumer electronics juggernaut by the end of 2014.
