Apple iPad Mini Sales: Apple iPad Mini Sales Set To Fall Significantly This Quarter: Sources

Apple iPad Mini Sales: For Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), the iPad mini has been a huge success. This tablet gives the Cupertino-based company the ability to compete in all segments of the market, grabbing a larger share and thus increasing revenue.

We have discussed the benefits of the mini in the past, such as in this article: iPad Mini Leads to Bigger Lead for Apple Inc. (AAPL) in Terms of Mobile Ad Impressions

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsHowever, if a report from DIGITIMES are true, the good times for the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini may be coming to an end.

In short, they are reporting that shipments of the iPad mini could fall by as much as 30 percent in Q2 2013. As you can imagine, this would be a huge hit to Apple’s business that relies so heavily on the sales of its tablets.

DIGITIMES said that “upstream sources in the iPad mini supply chain expect a 20-30% decline in shipments for the device during the second quarter of 2013 due to lacking demand in the market.”

According to sources, none of which are mentioned, the lack of demand is related largely to consumers waiting for the next generation Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini to be released.

Along with the above, the same article added that “Apple has also recently adjusted its reserves for the current iPad mini, which are estimated to be between 10-12 million during the quarter, down from approximately 15 million in the first quarter of the year.”

On the surface, it is easy to agree with this rumor. After all, there is no denying the fact that some people are waiting for the new mini to hit the market before deciding what to buy.

That being said, there is no way of knowing for sure if this DIGITIMES report is accurate.

In the past, DIGITIMES has been correct with some reports but entirely off base with others. In fact, you can learn more about the accuracy of DIGITIMES by reading this article.

DIGITIMES has been right in the past, but not nearly as often as they have been wrong.

Only time will tell if Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to experience a decrease in iPad mini shipments in Q2 2013.
