Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) was able to create a brand it what a category that twenty years ago seems like a commodity product. The company’s ability to create a brand and open stores on what seems like every corner was impressive in its own. Starbucks did run into some problems and got too far from its core business so it brought back Howard Schultz to the CEO role who quickly returned the company to basics. Starbucks generated high growth out of the recession and had record sales last year.

These are the companies that people have grown to love around the world.  As a result, brands are stronger and, in most cases, margins are higher than competitors.  These are the moats investors love!
