Since the question of rare and expensive games is a complex one, we decided to form two lists. One had the 10 most expensive games based on the price they were sold for and other had the 10 games that had the smallest number of copies available. We gave each game on both lists points from one to ten, summed them up and listed top seven. Sources we used for the information about the games include Mental Floss and Racket Boy among others. This game is a bit tricky in terms of value. There is only one original copy of the game, although reproduction copies can be bought for around $100. That one copy was never sold, but the owner did put a price tag of $500,000 on it. No one was willing to pay him that amount of money, so we don’t know the real value of the game. But the game is rare, so we decided to put it on our list.

It was thought that only 12 copies of this games were available, and they were fetching up to $3,000. Interesting thing is that neither of them had an accompanying box or manuals. Later in 2010 and 2012, two boxed copies were found. The later one had an accompanying manual and was sold for $33,400 on Game Gavel.

Depending on the condition, this game reaches some big numbers. Two sealed copies have been sold until today. Both were sold on eBay, with one reaching a price more than $35,000 and other being sold for $41,300. Even the box itself without the cartridge is known to be sold for close to $10,000.

The cartridge contains the games Super Mario Bros. 3, PinBot, and Dr. Mario and was developed for an event similar to famous Nintendo World Championships. This time, the locations of the competition were college campuses. After the competition had ended, all cartridges were supposed to be destroyed, but somehow one survived. It was first sold for $14,000 privately and then resold for $20,100 on eBay.
