Operated by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE:RCL), Oasis of the Seas was constructed in 2009, when it set a record for being the first cruise ship to have a capacity of more than 6,000 people. Oasis of the Seas was the first in the “Oasis” line and was constructed at a cost of $1.4 billion. The total crew of the company numbers 2,181 currently and the ship has an ice-skating rink, zip-line, mini golf course, karaoke club, comedy club, basketball and volleyball courts and even a promenade shopping area among its many facilities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, fourteen crew members aboard the Oasis of the Seas tested positive for Covid-19 with seven crew members then being hospitalized. Three of them ended up dying from their symptoms.
