Developed by researchers at Rush University Medical Center, the MIND Diet, which stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay – a combination of the Mediterranean and DASH diets – emphasizes the consumption of nutrient-dense foods that have been shown to promote brain health and reduce the risk of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. The MIND diet is a flexible and easy-to-follow diet that focuses on the consumption of  wide variety of nutrient-dense foods while limiting the consumption of foods that are high in saturated fats, added sugars, and processed foods. It encourages eating at least 3 servings of whole grains, a salad alongside a different vegetable every day, using nuts as snacks, and having a glass of wine with dinner.
