19. Taste Buds Kitchen
For $79 and a trip to the chic Chelsea and Flatiron border, you can take part in a number of awesome class offerings at Taste Buds Kitchen. Bring a few friends, and work in a small group to whip up 3 to 4 fun and delicious recipes within the class theme. Doors open 10 minutes prior to the start of class, and you are welcome to break open your booze to enjoy before the instruction even begins. They even provide bottle openers and glasses! Some of their classes include: Handmade Pasta, Tapas Espanolas, Tasty Thai, Sushi and Dumplings, and Modern French Pastry.

For $195 (or $295 per couple) and a trip to Manhattan’s bustling Lower East Side, you can enjoy an extremely entertaining pizza-making class! Learn to make and properly stretch the “best dough anywhere”, craft delicious sauce, combine toppings flawlessly, and make the most of whatever oven you have to work with at home. This class can be taken solo, as part of a couple, or with a small group of friends or family. Don’t forget a nice bottle of red wine or a couple of beers to go along with your creations.

If you’re able to get out to Borough Park in Brooklyn, check out some of the unique classes offered at Green Apron Kitchen. According to their website, most adult classes are BYOB. Score! 15. Whole Foods Market Bowery Culinary Center
Whole Foods Market in the Lower East Side of Manhattan (the chain’s only Northeast region cooking school) gears its cooking classes for the modern, urban, beginner cook. They are a hot commodity, and can sell out up to a month in advance. They have a variety of course options, from Vegan Autumn Harvest to Intro to Greece.

Sur La Table is an extremely well-respected company which offers a variety of cooking classes that focus on technique in their Hell’s Kitchen location. And you can show up to this class hungry, because you actually get to sample each dish as you make it! You’ll leave with recipe cards and a list of instructions and necessary equipment to give them a tray again at home. The cost is somewhere in the neighborhood of $59-250, depending on the course.
