As the largest retailer of arts and crafts materials in the country, Hobby Lobby is perhaps best recognized for this. But it has a reputation for being among the most conservative companies in the world among conservative circles. Like many conservatives, its founder, David Green, is a devoted Christian and still holds onto control of the business today.

Green has said some contentious things about gays while adhering to his Christian views. Media coverage of these contentious utterances has unavoidably led to some boycotts. Green also donates to various Republican campaigns using funds from Hobby Lobby. The Green Family has given hundreds of thousands of dollars in the past to Republican candidates, including $10,000 during the 2020 Presidential Election
