14 Highest Paid Doctors in India in 2017

Welcome to our list of the highest paid doctors in India in 2017. This Asian country is a popular healthcare tourist destination. Thousands of private and public clinics offer affordable health care provided by experts, who were educated in some of the worlds’ most famous medical schools. Still, finding the information about doctor salaries in India was very hard. This type of information is usually classified and we could only find unreliable estimates.

We also faced many different challenges, while searching for sources. Most lists we could find online didn’t offer any data about the doctors’ earnings or net worth. So, the logical step was to start from Forbes’s list of India’s 100 Richest People, and see whether we can find any doctors there. Luckily, we have found more than a few doctors, who now run big medical and pharmaceuticals companies, and they went straight to the top of our list of the highest paid doctors in India in 2017.

Then our search hit the dead end and stayed there for some time. After hours of browsing the internet, we have found an interesting topic on Quora about famous Indian doctors. Since the most famous doctors (like doctor Phil) usually have the highest net worth, we have decided to use this information for our list. Unfortunately, the thread wasn’t too popular, and there were only two doctors there.

Still, Quora turned out to be a very valuable source. We visited the thread about the highest paying post-graduate medical specialties in India. There, most medical practitioners who have discussed the topic agreed that radiology is by far the best paid post-graduate specialty, so we decided to list at least several radiologists. We have found them on the Credi Health website. We filtered the list to find the most experienced ones, since the website doesn’t offer any criteria that deals with doctors’ earnings. Then we have singled out the two most experienced professionals, both of whom are the directors of respected radiology institutions. If you would like to find more information about the lucrative medical specialties, check out the Insider Monkey’s list of the Highest Paying Jobs for Doctors.

After listing seven doctors our search has hit another dead end. Then out of nowhere we have found the Times of India article that lists five best doctors in the country. Since the article is a little bit older, we needed to check whether each one of these doctors still practices medicine. The article also gives some price estimates so we used them to rank these doctors on our list.

After listing twelve doctors there were two more to go. Then we found an interesting article on the Myan Care website that shares the story about the five most famous Indian doctors of all times. Apart from Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis, the famous doctor from Sino-Japanese war, who treated wounded civilians and Chinese soldiers and Dr. B. C. Roy, the founder of IMA and the modern Indian medicine, there were also three doctors who still run their practices and earn millions of dollars on an annual basis. That is how we have finally finished our quest for finding the information about the highest paid doctors in India in 2017.
