Up until 2010 and the construction of The Cosmopolitan, Wynn Resort was the most expensive building ever made in Las Vegas. Built on the spot previously occupied by the iconic Las Vegas Desert Inn, which was demolished in a spectacular explosion in 2001, Wynn Resort was also the tallest building on the Strip at the time it was finished.
