11 Luxury Car Brands and Parent Companies

To help those who are planning to purchase a luxury car make an informed decision, we came up with a list of 11 luxury car brands and parent companies.

Sales of luxury cars have declined in 2017 through the end of April, with mid-size luxury vehicle sales falling by 4.6% year-over-year and small/entry luxury car sales sliding by 3.6%. Among the vehicles taking the biggest individual hits are the BMW 5-Series (sales down 31.1% YTD through April), the Jaguar XF (-48.7%), the Lexus ES (-26.1%), the Lexus IS (-31.5%), and the Mercedes Benz C-Class (-43.6%). There have been a few standout performers however, including the Mercedes Benz C-Class (+21.1%), the Mercedes Benz E-Class (+21%), and the Audi A4 (+21%).

While mid-range luxury vehicle sales have been slipping this year, sales of super luxury vehicles are booming, experiencing double-digit growth from 2015 through early-2017. That’s not entirely surprising given the market conditions, as more people rise to immense wealth, while the middle class is saddled with stagnating wages and large amounts of debt.

To compile our list we looked to the Best Luxury Midsize Cars list published by U.S. News. The online news portal bases its ranking on numerous objective and subjective factors including data on safety and reliability and critic’s reviews. We based our listing primarily on the car’s price, intentionally skipping some models so we cover only the best luxury cars from different brands and parent companies.
