Internet is fast becoming one of our prime needs and the 11 countries with the fastest internet speeds in the world are at the top of the connectivity game. Average Speed – 11.5 Mbit/S

United States might have been the pioneers of internet but it has fallen back quite a few notches since then and is facing a tough competition from the Asians. Well, that being said the country also faces a serious lack of competition in broadband services right now.

10. Finland,

Average Speed –11.7 Mbit/S

Finland has climbed up the list of countries with the fastest internet speeds in the world since 2013, and is now at the 10th position from its previous rank at 13th. The download speed has seen a surge from around 9 Mb/Sec to well above the 11 Mb/Sec mark.

9. Singapore,

Average Speed –12.2 Mbit/S

Well, Singapore’s jump has been even grater as it rose by 10 ranks from 19th to the current 9th position. The country has a commendable internet connectivity rate of 99% and owes a big part of it to the government that has been actively taking initiatives to promote and develop the internet network.

8. Czech Republic,

Average Speed – 12.3 Mbit/S

Though Czech Republic has maintained its decent download speed and has even seen a fair rise this year, overall it has been unable to keep up with the cut throat competition from other countries, who have been proactively working to increase theirs. Hence, the country has slid from its 6th position to the 8th.

7. Ireland,

Average Speed –13.9 Mbit/S

The Irish have more or less maintained its position on the list with the pretty decent speed of 13.9 Mbit/S, thanks to the government’s internet goals. The connectivity in the country is quite smooth flowing and has a good enough coverage with 77% of the population being internet users.

Average Speed- 14 Mbit/S

The northwestern European country seems to be as much as known for its internet connectivity as it is for its beautiful landscapes and tulips. It is also said to be one of the two countries having the most number of internet connections per 100 residents.

Average Speed-  14.1 Mbit/S

Sweden beats Netherlands by a hairline .1 Mbit/s difference in their average speeds. The Scandinavian nation has a whopping 94% usage among its population which is the fourth largest in the world surpassed only by Falkland Islands, Iceland, and Norway.
