Inspired by similar candies created by founder Milton Hershey more than a century ago, Yo-man is similar to a popular brand of candy in China called White Rabbit. However, Yo-man is billed as a quality brand, while White Rabbit is geared toward the mass market.

Hershey’s plans beyond Yo-man include increasing the number of stores in China by 32%, and boosting its sales force by 60% this year from last year.

In 2012, Hershey tiptoed into China, debuting Ice Breakers, a line of mint and gum. It’s expanding its presence with Lancaster (aka Yo-man).

The hope is Chinese consumers will say yes ma’am to Yo-man.
