Hedge Fund Returns in 2012

The HSBC Hedge Weekly #50 is full of hedge funds’ returns for 2012. Since the report did not include some of the hedge funds that Insider Monkey tracks, we wanted to bring you those returns as well.

This list will be updated as we continue to compile more information and receive investor letters regarding 2012 performance.

OMEGA ADVISORS

1. John Paulson – Paulson & Co: John Paulson’s Advantage Plus Fund lost 19% in 2012. Its Advantage Fund was down more than 17% through November.

2. Fortress: Fortress Macro Fund returned 17.8% in 2012. Fortress Asia Macro Fund returned 21.2% and Drawbridge Special Opportunities Fund was up 16.5%.

3. Third Point: Dan Loeb’s Third Point returned a 21% gain in 2012. Its Ultra fund posted a 34% return.

4. Greenlight Capital: David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital showed an 8% gain in 2012.

5. Leon Cooperman – Omega Advisors: this fund had a return of 26% in 2012.

6. Andrew Feldstein – Blue Mountain Capital Management: their flagship fund was up more than 10% in 2012.

7. Bill Ackman – Pershing Square: this fund gained 12.4% in 2012.

8. Ken Griffin – Citadel: its Wellington multi-strategy fund ended the year up 25.5%.

9. Steven Cohen SAC Capital: ended the year up 12%.

10. Och-Ziff Capital Management: its Master Fund had a 2012 return of 11.18%.

11. Lee Ainslie – Maverick Capital: return of 16.70% as of December 7, 2012.

12. Israel Englander – Millennium: return of 5.6% as of December 6, 2012.

13. James Dinan – York Capital: return of 11.69% as of December 7, 2012.

14. Steve Heinz – Lansdowne Developed Market Fund: return of 14.55% as of December 7, 2012.

15. Edward Mule – Silver Point Capital: return of 14.72% as of November 30, 2012.

16. John Bader – Halcyon: return of 10.11% as of October 31, 2012.

17. Richard Perry – Perry Capital: return of 13.36% as of October 31, 2012.

18. Robert Karr – Joho Capital: return of 6.89% as of December 7, 2012.

19. Mark Kingdon – M. Kingdon Offshore: return of 10.64% as of December 7, 2012.

20. Curtis Macnguyen – Ivory Capital: return of 8.53% as of December 7, 2012.

21. Michael Messner – Seminole: return of 4.40% as of December 7, 2012.
