Google Inc (GOOGL): Will We See A Virtual Reality Android Soon?

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is reportedly working on a version of Android that will power virtual reality devices.

According to The Wall Street Journal, two people familiar with a project at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) revealed to them that the technology juggernaut has brought together engineers to work on a version of Android that will be able to run virtual reality applications.

It also appears to not be a small project, if the sources of the publication are to be believed. According to these people, “tens of engineers” and other staff are working on this virtual reality Android fork.

As with Android, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is planning to openly distribute the new version of the operating system. Android has become the most widely used mobile operating system because of this strategy. That has in turn opened a variety of avenues the company can utilize to push their services and generate revenue.

Google, Virtual Reality, Android, is GOOGL a good stock to buy,

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s virtual reality initiative for Android comes after other technology giants have signaled their deep interest in the field. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), for example, bought Oculus VR for $2 billion in March last year.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has also recently debuted HoloLens, its augmented reality device.

Nonetheless, The Wall Street Journal is saying that the project is “speculative” at the moment due to the fact that there is still no mass-products virtual reality device out in the markets. However, the publication noted that game companies, filmmakers and others in the entertainment industry see big potential in the nascent field.

Boykin Curry’s Eagle Capital Management owned 774,750 Class A Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares by the end of 2014.
