Apple Inc. (AAPL), Google Inc. (GOOG), Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN): Most Reputable

Three major tech companies – whose stocks are three of the most-popular plays among hedge funds we track – are again among the top companies in the Harris Interactive survey of most reputable companies in America. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) were at the top of the list, but in what order? Apple won the survey a year ago.

The survey takes into account six factors, including the quality of the products offered and how the companies treat their employees. Other factors considered are vision and leadership, financial performance and customer service. While Apple, Google and Amazon battle it out for the top spot, the least reputable companies on the list were Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL), Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:GS) and American International Group Inc. (NYSE:AIG). The latter two have not been looked upon favorably as financial institutions in the current climate, and Halliburton has gotten some heat over its fracking operations.

Without further ado, drum roll please. The top four most reputable companies on this latest survey are, in reverse order.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) takes the No. 4 spot in this year’s survey, scoring highly for customer service and for its working environment, which is preputed to be world-class.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) takes the No. 3 spot based on high scores in leadership and social responsibility.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) falls from No. 1 to No. 2 this year mainly due to some negative financial news recently. But the company is still world-renowned for customer service and the quality of its products.

And this year’s most reputable company is Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) after listing No. 4 a year ago and No. 8 the year before that. Amazon.com scores highly for emotional appeal while also securing top-five ranks for leadership, financial stability and workplace conditions.
