Apple iPod Touch: The Happiest Place on Earth Turning to Apple

Apple iPod Touch: Walt Disney World is well known as “The Happiest Place on Earth.” Can you imagine a situation in which Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices can make this destination even better?

Apple is actually the smart money’s second favorite publicly traded company (see why it’s important to pay attention to hedge fund activity).

It is being reported that The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS)’s Walt Disney World has rolled out a pilot program which will replace traditional turnstiles with employees using Apple’s iPod touch to complete the ticketing process.

A Leading Company Cheaper Than 90% Of Blue Chips... And It Recently Bounced 12%If you decide to visit the Magic Kingdom in Orlando in the near future, keep your eye out for employees who are using the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPod touch. Believe it or not, turnstiles are no longer part of the park’s famous entrance. Instead, each and every visitor is greeted by an employee with an iPod touch.

AppleInsider took the time to learn more about this change, adding the following:

“The change is part of a larger initiative by Disney known as “MyMagic+,” which has the ultimate goal of making the company’s theme parks even more convenient and inviting for those who attend. Disney’s Magic Kingdom has done away with turnstiles at the park’s entrance and replaced them with Apple’s iPod touch, in an effort to offer a more welcoming and seamless experience when entering the park.”

Yes, this is a big change to the way the park has done business in the past but it is nice to see that they are more than willing to keep up with the times. Like many companies, Walt Disney World will likely find that the use of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices can make life much more enjoyable.

The same AppleInsider article goes on to discuss what a Disney representative had to say about this change:

“A Disney representative who spoke with AppleInsider noted that because the program is in a trial stage, there’s no guarantee that the company will ultimately adopt the iPod touch as a long-term solution. But for now, cast members are utilizing Apple’s iOS device with a special accessory case and accompanying software that allow passes to be scanned.”

While there may not be any guarantee that the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPod touch system is used in the future, it will be interesting to see how it performs in the present.
