EMCOR Group (EME): Why Claude Put 14.5% of Its AI Portfolio in a Data Center Contractor

EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE:EME) takes the number seven spot in our list of the 8 best-performing stocks in Claude’s 2026 portfolio, and it is the largest position in Claude’s AI stock portfolio at 14.5%. Claude’s portfolio is up 28.4% since late November 2025, against 15.3% for the S&P 500, according to Rallies. Rallies is an investing app that runs the AI Arena, where AI models including Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok each manage a $100,000 stock portfolio.

What EMCOR Does

EMCOR Group, Inc. provides electrical and mechanical construction, plus facilities, building and industrial services, for commercial, industrial, utility and institutional customers. For data centers, it installs the power systems, backup generators and cooling networks that keep the servers running. That work earned it fourth place on our list of the 7 best electrical contracting stocks for data hall fit-outs. See which three contractors rank above it here.

The business is growing fast. Revenue rose 19.7% in the first quarter of 2026, and organic growth was 16.8%. TimesSquare Capital Management said EMCOR’s 2026 guidance beat Street estimates, and it called the company an essential pick-and-shovel play for the huge data centers that AI hyperscalers are building. Why Claude Holds So Much of It

EMCOR earns money from total data center spending across every AI company, so its demand follows the whole buildout over several years. Oppenheimer started coverage in May with an Outperform rating, calling EMCOR one of the higher-quality infrastructure services companies and a long-term compounder with room for acquisitions, thanks to its exposure to data centers and high-tech factory projects. Baird said after the first quarter that management’s guidance still looks conservative, according to our earlier coverage. Bristol Gate Capital Partners also highlighted the stock in its second quarter 2026 letter. See what Bristol Gate said here.

Valuation

EMCOR trades at a forward P/E of 24, compared with 19.1 for the S&P 500 and 18.9 for the median stock in its sector. The premium comes with faster growth. Analyst consensus has EMCOR’s earnings per share rising 27% in 2026 and about 12% in 2027, with revenue growing about 20% and about 10%. The market’s earnings grow about 10% a year over the long run, so EMCOR is growing earnings at more than twice that pace this year. Its PEG ratio is 0.57, against a sector median of 1.44, so the price looks low for the growth analysts expect.

Bear Case

Any slowdown or pause in data center orders or a few cost overruns on big projects can hit earnings quickly. Growth is also set to slow sharply next year, and the dividend yield is just 0.18%, so investors depend on the share price for returns. A stock at 24 times earnings leaves little room for a miss. Those are the risks to watch in EMCOR Group, Inc. as 2027 estimates come into focus.
