L3Harris Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:LHX) has pulled back significantly after an impressive start to the year. The stock is down about 23%, more than double the S&P 500 Aerospace & Defense Industry’s 9% loss. The sell-off reflects growing concerns about the company’s valuation and near-term prospects. The big question now is whether the pull back has left the stock trading at a discount. LHX is one of the best aerospace dividend stocks to buy. See which other stocks made the list.
The weakness has also prompted Wall Street analysts to reassess their price targets. On October 13, Goldman Sachs analyst Noah Poponak reiterated a Buy rating on the stock but cut the price target to $361 from $405, suggesting less optimism about the stock’s expected value. TD Cowen also cut its price target to $280 from $370 on October 9, further affirming valuation concerns.

The company continues to generate substantial cash flow, providing financial flexibility to fund operations and return capital to shareholders. In the second quarter of 2026, it generated $771 million in free cash flow, representing a 37% increase year over year.
Improving cash generation strengthens its ability to sustain shareholder distributions. Earlier in the year, it raised its quarterly dividend to $1.25 per share from $1.20, bringing its annualized payout to $5.00 per share. At the current share price of approximately $238, the annualized dividend implies a yield of about 2.11%.
Growth Outlook
While L3Harris Technologies, Inc. provides technology for military aircraft, space missions, and missile propulsion, it is positioned to benefit as governments modernize military capabilities. On October 12, 2026, it announced a $250 million follow-on contract from Lockheed Martin.
Communications & Spectrum Dominance is also an important profit engine. In Q2 2026, segment revenue rose 4% to $1.943 billion, while operating margin expanded to 26.9% from 24.6% a year earlier. Continued demand for tactical radios and secure communications could support earnings growth even if other businesses grow more slowly.
Space-based missile warning, satellite systems, and intelligence technologies are also becoming key growth drivers. The segment generated $2.96 billion in Q2 revenue, up 7% year over year. The company ended the second quarter with a record backlog of $42 billion, affirming a solid revenue base.

Key Concerns
On the downside, missile propulsion and aerospace systems require specialized components and manufacturing capacity. Therefore, any delays, supplier shortages, or cost overruns could delay backlog conversion into revenue and weaken profitability
Additionally, a significant chunk of the company’s growth is dependent on government defense budgets. Therefore, contract cancellations or changing requirements could slow conversion of orders into revenue.
Hedge Fund Positioning
Meanwhile, the number of hedge funds holding L3Harris Technologies, Inc. stock dropped to 56 in the second quarter from 59 in the first quarter. Despite the drop, D. E. Shaw increased its stake by 5204% to $306.45 million, as AQR Capital Management also increased by 248% to $246.23 million.
While shorted shares increased to 4.53 million as of September 30, bearish positioning remains limited, with short interest at 2.43%.
The Verdict
L3Harris Technologies could bounce back and edge higher despite the recent slump, given the strong underlying fundamentals. Its dividend also provides a modest income component. For investors, the central question is whether it can sustain its cash flow growth and convert its record backlog into stronger earnings without compromising margins and continue returning value to shareholders.
