Williams (WMB) in Advanced Talks to Acquire Momentum Midstream for $5.5B

The Williams Companies Inc. (NYSE:WMB) is one of the best stocks to invest in under $100. On June 28, it was reported that Williams is in advanced talks to acquire natural gas pipeline operator Momentum Midstream for ~$5.5 billion. The deal would be one of the largest in the company’s history and is being negotiated to purchase the firm from private equity provider EnCap Flatrock Midstream.

A formal announcement regarding the transaction could be made within the next week, though the parties have not yet reached a final agreement. If completed, the acquisition would significantly expand Williams’ infrastructure, adding capacity to transport natural gas from the Haynesville fields in East Texas and Northern Louisiana to key export terminals on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
