Apple Store Theft: Vancouver Apple Store Latest Target of Thieves

Apple Store Theft: In the past, we have talked time and time again about Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) stores being targeted by thieves. They know that these stores have hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment on hand. Not to mention the fact that these devices can be easily sold on the street for big profits.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) to be Added to Several WisdomTree ETFsApple is actually the smart money’s second favorite publicly traded company (see why it’s important to pay attention to hedge fund activity).

This time around, it was the Vancouver Apple Store that was hit. This story was first reported by the National Post.

We have seen thieves drive cars through store windows to gain access to the inventory. However, the Vancouver theft took a different turn. Instead, the criminals used bear spray to rob the store just before it closed its doors on Monday.

During this time, roughly 40 people were sprayed. From there, the thieves made off with a currently unknown number of laptops, iPods, and iPad tablets.

Although police arrived shortly after the attack, they were unable to find the suspects. However, here is some more information from the same article:

“Nearby Vancouver Police K9 units were on scene moments after the attack. Although they were unable to find the three males suspects, they discovered a quantity of product discarded by the men as they made their escape. The trio reportedly fled by car.”

The Vancouver Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) store is almost identical to the hundreds of others around the globe. With this in mind, it means that the thieves would not have access to a lot of product since the majority is kept locked up in storage rooms.

While police have yet to close in on the suspects, they are doing everything possible to do so in the near future. The article added:

“Into the night, a Vancouver Police forensics team remained at the scene to reconstruct the sudden encounter.”
