If you’ve searched “psychic reading near me” late at night, wondering where to even start, you’re far from the only one. Psychic reading has moved largely online, and most of that shift now happens through apps rather than storefronts. It’s easy to see why: a psychic reading app lets you connect with an advisor from wherever you are, compare prices before you commit, and read what others have said about their sessions.

We looked at five widely searched psychic reading platforms:

Nebula
Purple Garden
AskNow
Psychic World
MysticSense

We looked closely at pricing, advisor variety, reading formats, and what people are saying on Trustpilot. Below, we cover what each platform offers, where it falls short, and which one to explore first.

A note before you dive in: psychic reading is meant for emotional exploration and personal reflection. It isn’t a substitute for medical, legal, or financial advice. If you’re facing a health concern or a significant financial or legal decision, it’s worth speaking with a qualified professional alongside anything you explore here.

What Is a Psychic Reading, and How Does It Work?

A psychic reading is a session where an advisor — sometimes called a psychic, medium, tarot reader, or astrologer — draws on intuition, tarot cards, astrology charts, or other tools to offer a perspective on your life, relationships, career, or a question you’re sitting with. Most platforms connect you with independent advisors who set their own specialties and per-minute rates, rather than a single in-house team.

A live psychic reading tends to follow a familiar shape. You:

Create an account
Add funds or start a trial
Browse advisor profiles by specialty and price
Connect by chat, phone, or video

The advisor might open with a few questions or simply begin sharing what comes up for them. Sessions can run anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. You’re usually billed per minute once any free or introductory credit runs out.

Whether psychic reading reflects something beyond ordinary perception is ultimately a question of personal belief, and most platforms describe their services as intended for entertainment and reflection rather than certainty. What we can say is that a lot of people describe these sessions as a way to process a decision, feel a little less alone during a hard stretch, or simply hear a different angle on something familiar. If you’re curious but still not sure what you think, treating a session as a space for reflection, rather than a fixed answer, tends to feel more grounded either way.

How Much Does a Psychic Reading Cost?

Pricing varies by platform, format, and advisor experience, but most live psychic readings by phone or chat fall between $1 and $15 per minute. Budget-friendly platforms like Psychic World start as low as $0.50 per minute, while premium Master-tier advisors on sites like AskNow can run close to $14 per minute. Nearly every platform in this comparison offers some kind of introductory offer — free minutes, a $1-per-minute rate, or a discounted first package — so a first session usually costs less than the standard rate.

1. Nebula — Best Overall Psychic Reading App

Nebula is the most downloaded platform in this comparison, bringing astrology tools and live psychic chat together in one app. The onboarding starts with your birth chart, date, time, and place of birth, giving the experience a more personal starting point than a typical psychic reading app, and its advisor roster is large enough that most people can find someone who fits their question.

Features:

Over 900 psychic advisors covering tarot, astrology, clairvoyance, palmistry, and love readings
A short matching quiz that suggests advisors based on what you’re looking for
Chat-based live psychic readings with advisor bios, ratings, and specialties listed upfront
Personalized daily, weekly, and monthly horoscopes built from your birth chart
A compatibility tool for comparing your chart with a partner’s
Both app and web access

Nebula has a 4.3-star rating on Trustpilot across 17,678 reviews. It has the highest number of Trustpilot reviews on this list. It’s also worth noting the most common concern raised on Nebula’s Trustpilot page: several reviewers described being moved from a small introductory charge, as little as $1, into a recurring subscription without a clear heads-up, and said canceling wasn’t simple. If you start a trial, it may help to set a reminder before it renews and to read the checkout screen slowly before entering payment details.

Best For

Nebula fits well for people who want astrology and psychic reading in one place, especially if birth-chart-based insight feels more resonant than a straight tarot or clairvoyant session. It’s also a comfortable starting point for a psychic love reading, since the compatibility tool gives you something concrete to sit with before or after a conversation with an advisor. On Reddit people say Nebula is the most reliable platform for real psychic readings.

Pros

The largest advisor network in this comparison
Combines astrology and psychic reading, which most competitors keep separate
A well-reviewed mobile app, holding 4.1 stars across App Store ratings
A wide range of reading themes, from love to career to palmistry
Enough free minutes to test phone psychic reading

Cons

The billing structure takes some getting used to, and subscription auto-renewal is a recurring theme in Trustpilot feedback
Cancelling a subscription reportedly takes a few extra steps through account settings
Per-minute cost sits on the higher end for a chat-based platform

2. MysticSense — Best for Psychic Medium Readings and Advisor Variety

MysticSense has the most detailed filtering system in this comparison, letting you search by tool (tarot, pendulum, Reiki, crystals), niche (pet communication, LGBTQ+ relationships, grief support), and reading method. That level of detail makes it a strong option if you’re looking for something specific, like a psychic medium reading to feel closer to someone who has passed, rather than a general conversation.

Features:

Nearly 1,000 independent advisors
Chat, phone, and video reading formats (no email readings)
Advanced filters by specialty, tool, price range, and niche topic
Categories spanning love, career, mediumship, pet communication, energy work, and numerology
Live customer support chat, available around the clock
Saved chat transcripts you can revisit later

MysticSense holds the highest third-party rating in this comparison — roughly 4.7 stars on Trustpilot across more than 1,000 reviews. Reviewers often mention forming long-term connections with specific advisors and appreciate that the platform describes an advisor approval process without relying on fear-based sales tactics, which show up on some competing sites. The main drawback mentioned in reviews is that, with nearly 1,000 advisors, reading quality naturally varies, and a few users described guidance that felt too general to act on.

Best For

MysticSense fits well for anyone interested in mediumship specifically, or who wants detailed filtering to find a narrow type of advisor rather than browsing a broad list.

Pros

The highest Trustpilot rating among the five platforms compared
The most detailed filtering system for niche reading types
A credit-back policy covering up to 10 minutes if a session falls short
A reputation for advisor conduct that steers away from fear-based framing

Cons

No email-based reading option, despite interest in asynchronous formats
Nearly 1,000 advisors makes consistent quality harder to promise
Video sessions sit at the top of the platform’s price range

3. Psychic World — Best for Affordable Live Psychic Chat and Emotional Support

Psychic World leans into accessibility. It has the lowest advertised per-minute range in this comparison, along with recurring free-chat promotions, which makes it a comfortable place to try psychic tarot reading or a clairvoyant chat without spending much to see how it feels.

Features:

Advisor rates ranging from $0.50 to $5.00 per minute — the lowest range in this comparison
Free psychic chat previews and a free weekly tarot card pull
Love and friendship compatibility calculators
A 50% off promo code for a first reading
Chat, phone, and video reading formats
A “psychics near me” directory highlighting advisors with local or regional focuses

The platform reports over 300,000 users, and its Trustpilot rating sits around 4.2 stars from roughly 86 reviews. Much of the praise centers on emotional tone: several reviewers, including some going through difficult stretches, described the readings as supportive and non-judgmental rather than focused purely on prediction. On the other side, a handful of reviewers said certain advisors gave inconsistent information, and a few questioned whether some profiles were staffed by the same person over time.

Best For

Psychic World suits anyone looking for a lower-cost psychic reading on a tighter budget, and especially those who want a low-pressure session focused more on emotional support and reflection than firm predictions.

Pros

The lowest per-minute rates in this comparison
Frequent free-chat and discount promotions
Reviewers consistently describe the tone as warm and non-judgmental
Low financial commitment for anyone new to psychic reading

Cons

A smaller advisor roster than Nebula, Purple Garden, or MysticSense
Some complaints about inconsistent information between advisors
A few reviewers mentioned difficulty leaving critical feedback on certain advisor profiles

4. Purple Garden — Best for Affordable, Video-Based Psychic Readings

Purple Garden has built its reputation on openness — every advisor profile shows their rate, specialties, review history (including critical reviews, which stay visible), and a short video introduction. It’s also the only platform in this comparison offering full video-call tarot readings, not just chat and phone.

Features:

1,000+ independent advisors, with the platform reporting over 2,000 total
Chat, phone, and video call formats, including video tarot readings
“Top Accuracy” badges that highlight advisors with strong client feedback
Filterable search by price, reading type, and availability
A cashback rewards program for purchases
An app-first design, with a mobile experience that reviewers tend to appreciate

Purple Garden holds roughly a 4-star rating on Trustpilot, with reviewers pointing to the easy-to-use app and clear pricing. On Reddit’s r/psychic, opinions are more mixed: some users felt that many advisors leaned toward generic, agreeable answers, while others found one or two readers worth returning to. That mix is fairly common across large advisor marketplaces — the platform itself functions as described, but reading quality shifts from advisor to advisor, so looking closely at individual profiles matters more than the overall app rating.

Best For

Purple Garden works well for anyone who wants a phone or video psychic reading without committing to a subscription, and especially for people drawn to video tarot reading, which few competitors offer.

Pros

The most accessible entry point in this comparison, starting at $0.99/minute
A video call option that’s genuinely uncommon among major platforms
Advisor reviews stay visible, including critical ones
A generous $30 new-user credit

Cons

No refund policy for reading outcomes — the company states its services are for entertainment purposes
An inactivity policy has drawn complaints about lost account credit
Reading quality varies across the large advisor pool

5. AskNow — Best for Building a Long-Term Advisor Relationship

AskNow has been running since 2005, making it the most established platform in this comparison. Its tiered advisor system is built around returning to the same reader over time, rather than sampling a new one each session. Readings happen only by phone or chat — there’s no video option — and advisors go through a more involved application process than most competitors before joining the platform.

Features:

Advisors organized into three tiers: Top Rated, Elite, and Master
Phone and text chat readings covering tarot, astrology, numerology, dream analysis, and career guidance
A “Psychic Spotlight” section highlighting well-reviewed advisors
Advisor calendars showing upcoming availability
A credit policy covering the first 10 minutes if a session doesn’t feel right
An optional monthly membership program with recurring minutes

On Trustpilot, AskNow has the 3.9-star range across roughly 96 reviews. Reviewers who stayed with one Master advisor over months or years — a few mentioned relationships lasting a decade — described the guidance as consistently meaningful to them. The recurring frustration involves callers who didn’t realize they’d been connected to a Master-tier advisor at $13.99 per minute rather than the entry rate, leading to unexpected charges. It may help to ask which tier you’re being connected to before a call begins.

Best For

AskNow is a fit for anyone who specifically wants a phone psychic reading, and who’s comfortable paying more for advisors with two decades of history on one platform.

Pros

The longest operating history of any platform in this comparison (20+ years)
A clear three-tier system that makes budget planning simpler once it clicks
A strong reputation for top advisors, several with long-standing repeat clients
A $1-per-minute introductory offer that keeps a first session affordable

Cons

No video call option
The highest baseline pricing in this comparison once the intro period ends
Some reviewers describe being connected to Master-tier rates without a clear heads-up

Any option from our review of cheap accurate psychic readings platforms can be your best choice.

How to Prepare for a Psychic Reading Session?

A little preparation tends to make a session feel more grounded and useful:

Sit with two or three specific questions rather than opening with something broad like “tell me about my life.”
Set a time or spending limit before you connect, since per-minute billing can add up as a conversation continues.
Stay open, but share context when it’s relevant — most advisors work more naturally with some starting material rather than a test of silence.
Look at the advisor’s specialty and reviews before booking, since a love-reading specialist and a career-focused advisor will approach the same question differently.
Give yourself space to reflect afterward rather than acting right away. Sitting with what came up for a day or so often brings more clarity than responding in the moment.

All these actions will help you get the most value from cheap psychic readings.

Other Ways to Connect: Email, Phone, and Low-Cost Options

Not every reading needs to happen live, and not every budget needs to stretch far to get something meaningful out of a session. If chat or video doesn’t feel like the right fit, a few other formats are worth knowing about.

Email Psychic Readings

Email psychic readings work well if you’d rather write out a question and sit with the answer at your own pace, instead of holding a live conversation. You send in your question, an advisor responds within a set window, and the exchange stays saved so you can revisit it later rather than only living in the moment. Not every platform in this comparison offers this format, so if written correspondence feels more comfortable, it’s worth checking an advisor’s profile for that option before booking.

Psychic Telephone Readings

Psychic telephone readings remain one of the most familiar ways to connect, especially for anyone who finds it easier to speak than to type. AskNow leans into this format specifically, since phone and chat are its only two options, and its longer operating history gives phone-based sessions a certain steadiness that newer apps haven’t built yet.

Love Psychic Reading

If a question centers on relationships, a love psychic reading is one of the more commonly requested specialties across every platform here. Advisors who focus on this area tend to build their profiles around relationship patterns, compatibility, and communication rather than general life direction, so it can help to filter specifically for “love” or “relationships” instead of browsing a broad advisor list.

Low-Cost and Trusted Psychic Readings

Low cost psychic readings and trusted psychic readings don’t have to be at odds with each other. Purple Garden and Psychic World both start under $1 per minute, and pairing a lower rate with a look at an advisor’s individual review history — rather than the platform’s overall score — tends to be a more reliable way to find someone worth returning to. A strong Trustpilot rating says something about the platform as a whole, but advisor-level reviews say more about what an actual session felt like for someone else.

$1 Psychic Reading Offers

Several platforms also lean on a $1 psychic reading offer to welcome new users. AskNow’s introductory package works out to roughly $1 per minute, and Psychic World’s discount promotions often land in a similar range for a first reading. These entry offers are a low-pressure way to get a feel for a platform’s tone and advisor style before deciding whether a longer session at full price feels worth it.

The Bottom Line

With this many formats and price points to choose from, there isn’t one single best psychic app for everyone — the right fit depends on whether you’re drawn to a quick, low-cost chat, a longer phone conversation, or a written exchange you can come back to later.

Each platform in this comparison connects you with independent advisors, but they lean into different strengths:

Nebula stands out as the most complete psychic reading app thanks to its advisor volume and astrology integration, as long as you keep an eye on subscription renewals.
Purple Garden and Psychic World are worth exploring for a more affordable psychic reading, whether by chat or video.
AskNow rewards patience and a slightly higher budget with advisors you can return to over time.
MysticSense stands out if you’re looking for something specific, like a medium session.

Whichever you choose, it can help to start small, look closely at an advisor’s individual reviews rather than just the platform’s overall rating, and treat a first session as a way to notice whether the format — and the advisor — feels right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a psychic reading?

A psychic reading is a session where an advisor draws on intuition, tarot cards, astrology, or other tools to offer perspective on your life, relationships, or a decision you’re facing. Most platforms describe these sessions as a space for reflection rather than a fixed outcome.

Is psychic reading legitimate, or is psychic reading true?

This comes down to personal belief — there’s no scientific consensus confirming psychic ability, and most platforms describe their services as intended for entertainment and reflection. Many people still find meaning in the perspective a session offers, whatever they believe about how it works.

Why should I get a psychic reading?

People often turn to psychic reading during a period of uncertainty — a breakup, career change, or grief — when an outside perspective feels helpful. It can offer a space to think through a decision more slowly, even without taking every word as certain.

Where can I get a psychic reading, or where can I get a psychic reading online?

Platforms like Nebula, Purple Garden, AskNow, Psychic World, and MysticSense all let you book a session online through chat, phone, or video, usually with an advisor available within minutes.

What to expect from a psychic reading?

You can expect to create an account, choose an advisor based on their specialty and reviews, and connect by chat, phone, or video. The advisor might ask a few opening questions or begin sharing what comes up for them, and most sessions are billed per minute.

How does a psychic reading work?

You choose a reading format and an advisor, and the advisor draws on their chosen approach — tarot, astrology, clairvoyance, or mediumship — to respond to your questions as the conversation unfolds. Sessions typically run anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.

What is a psychic medium reading?

A psychic medium reading focuses on feeling connected to someone who has passed, offering a sense of closure or a message rather than general life guidance. MysticSense and AskNow both list mediumship as a distinct advisor specialty.

How often should you get a psychic reading?

There’s no fixed rule, but many advisors suggest spacing sessions out — monthly at most — rather than returning too frequently, since repeated readings can start to feel more like reassurance-seeking than meaningful reflection.
