Pfizer’s Turnaround is Gaining Traction, but Can New Products Offset its Patent Cliff?

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) is beginning to show signs of steadier growth following the sharp decline in its pandemic-related business. The pharmaceutical giant reported a 1% year-over-year operational increase in fiscal Q2 2026 revenue to $15.0 billion, while revenue excluding Comirnaty and Paxlovid grew 5% operationally. Management also raised the midpoint of its full-year revenue guidance.

However, Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) recovery still faces a major test: whether growth from newer products and cost reductions can compensate for upcoming patent expirations across several established medicines.

Bull Case

A point of optimism for investors is that Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) is becoming less dependent on unpredictable COVID-related sales, as its non-COVID product portfolio drove growth. Launched and acquired medicines generated $3.2 billion in quarterly revenue and grew 18% operationally. The company also cut its 2026 COVID-19 revenue estimate to approximately $4 billion, primarily due to weaker PAXLOVID demand.

Growth is also becoming more diversified for the company, with Padcev gaining market share in bladder cancer, and Vyndaqel continuing to benefit from increased diagnosis and international demand. Padcev revenue rose 23% operationally to $667 million, while the Vyndaqel family generated $1.76 billion, representing 8% operational growth. This is significant because the company needs several products to support its post-COVID recovery and not just one blockbuster.

Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) also expanded its cost-savings target and remains on track to produce approximately $5.7 billion in net savings by the end of 2026. It expects $6.7 billion in total net savings from its cost reductions through 2029 as it looks to offset declining COVID-related revenue and restore sustainable growth. These savings could support margins and free up resources for investment in oncology and obesity, even if revenue growth remains moderate.

Bear Case

Operationally, Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) revenue growth was only 1%, with foreign-exchange movements contributing to the reported increase. This holds significance because the company’s turnaround is not yet producing strong underlying growth extending throughout the company. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) also reported a GAAP pre-tax loss from continuing operations, partly because of impairment, legal, restructuring, and acquisition-related charges. Therefore, reported profitability remains affected by restructuring and portfolio-related costs.

Another crucial point for investors is the company’s patent losses. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) expects significant revenue pressure from patent expirations between 2026 and 2030, with the major products facing competition including Eliquis, Ibrance, and Xtandi. The company’s financial guidance for full-year 2026 shows an anticipated unfavorable revenue impact of approximately $1.1 billion due to recent and expected generic and biosimilar competition for certain products that have either recently lost patent or regulatory protection or are expected to lose patent or regulatory protection. While Padcev and Vyndaqel are growing, investors still lack definitive evidence that Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) newer portfolio can replace the combined revenue exposed to patent losses.

What Do Hedge Funds Say?

Hedge fund sentiment offers another perspective into Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) future outlook. According to Insider Monkey’s database of 1,022 hedge funds, hedge fund ownership for the stock rose modestly from 81 in Q4 2025 to 83 in Q1 2026. While the increase is too small to signal a decisive shift in institutional conviction, it indicates that hedge fund interest remained broadly stable with a slightly positive tilt as Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) continued its turnaround efforts.

Conclusion

Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) turnaround is becoming more credible as its non-COVID portfolio expands, products such as Padcev and Vyndaqel deliver growth, and management reduces the company’s cost base. However, the recovery remains incomplete. Operational revenue growth is still modest, and upcoming patent expirations could place substantial pressure on several established franchises. Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) lower cost structure provides breathing room, but the long-term investment case ultimately depends on whether its newer medicines can become large enough to replace the revenue it is preparing to lose.

The $250 Trillion AI Hype is Real. A few years from now, you’ll probably wish you’d bought this stock.

When Jeff Bezos said that one breakthrough technology would shape Amazon’s destiny, even Wall Street’s biggest analysts were caught off guard.

Fast forward a year and Amazon’s new CEO Andy Jassy described generative AI as a “once-in-a-lifetime” technology that is already being used across Amazon to reinvent customer experiences.

At the 8th Future Investment Initiative conference, Elon Musk predicted that by 2040 there would be at least 10 billion humanoid robots, with each priced between $20,000 and $25,000.

Do the math. According to Musk, this technology could be worth $250 trillion by 2040.

Put another way, that’s roughly equal to:

  • 175 Teslas
  • 107 Amazons
  • 140 Metas
  • 84 Googles
  • 65 Microsofts
  • And 55 Nvidias

And here’s the wild part — this $250 trillion wave isn’t tied to one company, but to an entire ecosystem of AI innovators set to reshape the global economy.

It’s a leap so massive, it could reshape how businesses, governments, and consumers operate worldwide.

Even if that $250 trillion figure sounds ambitious, major firms like PwC and McKinsey still see AI unlocking multi-trillion-dollar potential.

How could anything be worth that much?

The answer lies in a breakthrough so powerful it’s redefining how humanity works, learns, and creates.

And this breakthrough has already set off a frenzy among hedge funds and Wall Street’s top investors.

What most investors don’t realize is that one under-owned company holds the key to this $250 trillion revolution.

In fact, Verge argues this company’s supercheap AI technology should concern rivals.

Before I reveal the details, let’s talk about how some of the richest people on the planet are positioning themselves.

  • Bill Gates sees artificial intelligence as the “biggest technological advance in my lifetime,” more transformative than the internet or personal computer, capable of improving healthcare, education, and addressing climate change.
  • Larry Ellison — through Oracle, is spending billions on Nvidia chips and partnering with Cohere to embed generative AI across Oracle’s cloud and apps.
  • Warren Buffett — not known for tech hype — says this breakthrough could have a ‘hugely beneficial social impact.

When billionaires from Silicon Valley to Wall Street line up behind the same idea — you know it’s worth paying attention to.

Even as we admire what Tesla, Nvidia, Alphabet, and Microsoft have built, we believe an even greater opportunity lies elsewhere…

But the real story isn’t Nvidia — it’s a much smaller company quietly improving the critical technology that makes this entire revolution possible.

And judging by what I’m hearing from both Silicon Valley insiders and Wall Street veterans…

This prediction might not be bold at all:

My name is Inan Dogan. I’m the co-founder and Research Director of Insider Monkey. I have an important message for you today.

Since March 2017, my stock picks have returned 16.5% annually. Today, I’ve found an opportunity even bigger than my British American Tobacco call.

Two years ago, Wall Street wrote off British American Tobacco (BTI) as a “melting ice cube.” The stock had crashed 40% from its peak, and consensus said the business was dying.

We looked under the cover and realized they were wrong.

We alerted our subscribers, and BTI returned 90% in just 16 months.

Now if you had invested just $10,000 in BTI in June 2024, you’d be sitting on $19,000 in October 2025.

Today, we have identified a nearly identical pattern in a digital-first giant trading at $3.

While the market panics over a surface-level revenue decline, our PhD-led research shows management has actually surgically cut $100 million in waste to focus on high-margin growth.

This pattern is a hallmark of our 16.5% annual return track record. The current opportunity offers a 400% upside potential—dwarfing even our 90% BTI return.
