Price wars are heating up in the video streaming business as Lightbox has dropped its monthly subscription fees just hours before Netflix, Inc. Lightbox price cut seems to have been triggered by Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) entire Australian catalogue being leaked online, a day before its launch. Images showing the kind of TV shows and movies that will be offered by Netflix have already surfaced on Reddit including titles like Orange is the New Black and Homeland as well as Australian show Rake.

However, some shows that are set to appear on Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) Australia will not be on offer in New Zealand. Netflix with over 50 million subscribers in 50 countries is set to offer a one-month trial for its content for people who sign up. Single-stream standard definition plan will go for $9.99 with Two-stream high-definition plan going for $12.99. People looking for a four stream 4K ultra-high definition will have to pat ways with $15.99 a month.

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) services will be on offer in a range of devices including smart TV’s Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices as well as gaming platforms. Exclusive shows on offer include Marco Polo, Sense 8 and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Lost, Star Wars a well as The Clone Wars and Broadchurch will also be on offer.

Netflix has been on an expansion drive having already made its presence felt in 40 countries as the company moves to create a new dynamic for New Zealand. A country that has been dominated by the near monopoly of Sky TV. The giant streaming company is however set to face stiff competition in New Zealand from local subscription video on demand (SVOD) services.

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) judges its returns from global investments based on streamed titles and not the returns of individual territories. It is for this reason that it competes for price, content and distribution without focusing all its attention on generating local profit.
