Neil Goldman is Bullish on 1 Microsoft Friend & 1 Amazon Foe

Neil Goldman, Goldman Capital: Neil Goldman’s Goldman Capital Management just disclosed that it is increasing its stake in two companies: Local Corporation (NASDAQ:LOCM) and Research Frontiers, Inc. (NASDAQ:REFR). In two separate filings with the SEC, Goldman Capital Management disclosed ownership of 2.8 million shares of Local Corporation, which reresent 12.3% of the company, and 1.2 million shares, or 5.1% of Research Frontiers.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)

Goldman Capital Management increased its stake in Local Corporation by 540,200 shares, with the value of the whole stake amounting to $5.5 million. At the beginning of September, Local Corp, a company engaged in online local media, released information about signing an agreement with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), under the terms of which, Local Corp will provide search results for Microsoft’s Bing search platform via its platform, Krillion.

Research Frontiers increased in Goldman Capital’s equity portfolio by as much as 113,000 shares. The value of the current position is worth almost $5.1 million. Earlier this year, Research Frontiers filed a lawsuit against several companies such as Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Sony Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:SNE), and Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) regarding the infringement of its patents. Research Frontiers said that different products using E-Ink technology like Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s Reader, as well as other e-readers conflict with its patents on SPD-Smart light-control technology, for which Research Frontiers spent years and around $90 million on, the company said in a statement.
