Kaiser Aluminum Has Pulled Back. UBS Sees an Attractive Entry Point

Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU) has pulled back sharply from its recent highs, but UBS sees the weakness as a buying opportunity. On August 31, UBS upgraded Kaiser Aluminum from Neutral to Buy and raised its price target to $184 from $179. Analyst Alex Stansbury argued that the selloff has created an attractive entry point into a business with improving earnings power.

Bull Case

UBS’s upgrade to Buy from Neutral is based on the view that Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU)’s recent pullback has created an attractive entry point rather than signaling a deterioration in the company’s long-term earnings outlook. Analyst Alex Stansbury raised the price target to $184 from $179, arguing that the selloff has created an opportunity to buy a business with improving earnings power.

The most important part of UBS’s argument is that several of the pressures weighing on Kaiser’s shares appear temporary. Stansbury specifically pointed to scrap as a meaningful tailwind while also saying that the company’s underlying fundamentals are strengthening. That is important because UBS is not relying solely on higher aluminum prices to support its bullish view. Instead, the bank sees operational improvements and stronger end-market demand contributing to earnings growth.

UBS also highlighted the benefits of Kaiser’s investments at Warrick and Trentwood. Those investments are increasingly relevant to the earnings story. Kaiser says its Warrick investment is designed to increase capacity for higher-margin coated packaging products, while its Trentwood modernization has focused on improving efficiency, capacity and the quality of products serving aerospace and general engineering customers.

The aerospace recovery is another key part of UBS’s thesis. Stansbury pointed to the end of aerospace destocking and accelerating build rates, suggesting that an important headwind for Kaiser is beginning to reverse. That view is supported by Kaiser’s latest results: the company said aerospace demand was strengthening as destocking eased, while second-quarter aerospace shipments increased year over year.

Kaiser’s latest results therefore give some credibility to UBS’s argument. The company reported record second-quarter 2026 results and raised its full-year outlook, with management citing improving aerospace demand, favorable scrap spreads, stronger packaging mix and solid customer activity. In other words, UBS sees the recent weakness in KALU as an opportunity to buy before the benefits from these trends become more fully reflected in earnings and the share price.

Bear Case

The biggest risk to the UBS thesis is that some of the recent earnings tailwinds may prove less durable than expected. UBS itself acknowledges that scrap is an important tailwind, which means investors need to distinguish between structural improvement in Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU)’s operations and benefits that could fade as commodity and input-market conditions change.

That distinction matters because Kaiser’s own latest outlook assumes that the favorable metal-price lag and consumption-cost tailwinds from the first half of 2026 will not continue through the remainder of the year. The company is instead expecting future performance to be supported by demand, pricing, packaging mix and execution.

There are also still execution risks around the investments that UBS views as a positive. Warrick and Trentwood should strengthen Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU)’s competitive position, but the full benefit depends on the company successfully converting additional capacity and modernization into higher margins and sustainable volume growth. Kaiser has made substantial investments in both facilities, making execution an important part of the bull thesis rather than a guaranteed outcome.

Aerospace is another area where the timing of the recovery matters. UBS expects the end of destocking and accelerating aircraft build rates to support Kaiser, but if aerospace customers take longer to rebuild inventories or production increases more slowly than expected, the earnings recovery could be pushed out.

Finally, the bullish UBS call is not yet universally shared on Wall Street. The news cited in the upgrade shows a mixed analyst view, with some analysts still maintaining bearish or neutral ratings. That suggests investors should not treat the $184 target as a consensus outcome. The market still has concerns about trade-related pressures, the leadership transition, and the durability of recent earnings improvements.

Conclusion

UBS’s bullish case for Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU) rests on a turning-point thesis: the recent selloff has created an attractive entry point just as several fundamentals are improving. Stansbury specifically sees support from scrap, the Warrick and Trentwood investments, and the end of aerospace destocking as aircraft build rates accelerate.

The bear case is that some of the recent earnings strength could be cyclical, while aerospace recovery, trade conditions and the payoff from capital investments remain subject to execution and timing. Still, Kaiser’s latest results and raised outlook provide support for UBS’s view. Overall, UBS is essentially betting that the market is focusing too much on Kaiser’s recent setbacks and not enough on the company’s improving underlying earnings power.

The $250 Trillion AI Hype is Real. A few years from now, you’ll probably wish you’d bought this stock.

When Jeff Bezos said that one breakthrough technology would shape Amazon’s destiny, even Wall Street’s biggest analysts were caught off guard.

Fast forward a year and Amazon’s new CEO Andy Jassy described generative AI as a “once-in-a-lifetime” technology that is already being used across Amazon to reinvent customer experiences.

At the 8th Future Investment Initiative conference, Elon Musk predicted that by 2040 there would be at least 10 billion humanoid robots, with each priced between $20,000 and $25,000.

Do the math. According to Musk, this technology could be worth $250 trillion by 2040.

Put another way, that’s roughly equal to:

  • 175 Teslas
  • 107 Amazons
  • 140 Metas
  • 84 Googles
  • 65 Microsofts
  • And 55 Nvidias

And here’s the wild part — this $250 trillion wave isn’t tied to one company, but to an entire ecosystem of AI innovators set to reshape the global economy.

It’s a leap so massive, it could reshape how businesses, governments, and consumers operate worldwide.

Even if that $250 trillion figure sounds ambitious, major firms like PwC and McKinsey still see AI unlocking multi-trillion-dollar potential.

How could anything be worth that much?

The answer lies in a breakthrough so powerful it’s redefining how humanity works, learns, and creates.

And this breakthrough has already set off a frenzy among hedge funds and Wall Street’s top investors.

What most investors don’t realize is that one under-owned company holds the key to this $250 trillion revolution.

In fact, Verge argues this company’s supercheap AI technology should concern rivals.

Before I reveal the details, let’s talk about how some of the richest people on the planet are positioning themselves.

  • Bill Gates sees artificial intelligence as the “biggest technological advance in my lifetime,” more transformative than the internet or personal computer, capable of improving healthcare, education, and addressing climate change.
  • Larry Ellison — through Oracle, is spending billions on Nvidia chips and partnering with Cohere to embed generative AI across Oracle’s cloud and apps.
  • Warren Buffett — not known for tech hype — says this breakthrough could have a ‘hugely beneficial social impact.

When billionaires from Silicon Valley to Wall Street line up behind the same idea — you know it’s worth paying attention to.

Even as we admire what Tesla, Nvidia, Alphabet, and Microsoft have built, we believe an even greater opportunity lies elsewhere…

But the real story isn’t Nvidia — it’s a much smaller company quietly improving the critical technology that makes this entire revolution possible.

And judging by what I’m hearing from both Silicon Valley insiders and Wall Street veterans…

This prediction might not be bold at all:

My name is Inan Dogan. I’m the co-founder and Research Director of Insider Monkey. I have an important message for you today.

Since March 2017, my stock picks have returned 16.5% annually. Today, I’ve found an opportunity even bigger than my British American Tobacco call.

Two years ago, Wall Street wrote off British American Tobacco (BTI) as a “melting ice cube.” The stock had crashed 40% from its peak, and consensus said the business was dying.

We looked under the cover and realized they were wrong.

We alerted our subscribers, and BTI returned 90% in just 16 months.

Now if you had invested just $10,000 in BTI in June 2024, you’d be sitting on $19,000 in October 2025.

Today, we have identified a nearly identical pattern in a digital-first giant trading at $3.

While the market panics over a surface-level revenue decline, our PhD-led research shows management has actually surgically cut $100 million in waste to focus on high-margin growth.

This pattern is a hallmark of our 16.5% annual return track record. The current opportunity offers a 400% upside potential—dwarfing even our 90% BTI return.
