On July 7, 2026, BMO Capital lowered the firm’s price target on Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to $500 from $515 and kept an Outperform rating on the shares as part of a broader software note. BMO said it expects modest upside to consensus Azure growth estimates in the June quarter, though it also expects capex consensus estimates to continue moving higher.

On July 8, Bloomberg’s Brody Ford reported that Microsoft is starting to replace OpenAI and Anthropic with its own models in software products such as Excel and Outlook as it looks to reduce AI costs. Tens of thousands of AI prompts in the spreadsheet and email applications are now being completed each week with Microsoft’s internally built MAI models, according to a person familiar with the work.

On July 6, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that Microsoft’s Xbox will cut 3,200 jobs as part of a major reorganization and divest from five development studios. Compulsion Games and Double Fine will become independent companies, while Ninja Theory and Undead Labs will be sold to other companies. Arkane Lyon will enter a consultation process in France to review its options.
