Miller/Howard Investments, in its Q1 2021 investor letter, mentioned Jefferies Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: JEF), and shared their insights on the company. Jefferies Financial Group Inc. is a New York, New York-based financial services company that currently has a $7.7 billion market capitalization. Since the beginning of the year, JEF delivered a 26.95% return, extending its 12-month gains to 103.19%. As of June 15, 2021, the stock closed at $31.20 per share.

Our calculations show that Jefferies Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: JEF) does not belong in our list of the 30 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As of the end of the first quarter of 2021, Jefferies Financial Group Inc. was in 38 hedge fund portfolios, compared to 33 funds in the fourth quarter of 2020. JEF delivered a -9.00% return in the past 3 months.

Hedge funds’ reputation as shrewd investors has been tarnished in the last decade as their hedged returns couldn’t keep up with the unhedged returns of the market indices.
