If you have been keeping track of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as of late, you are well aware that many feel that Cupertino is being passed up by the competition. Whether or not this is true is a different story entirely, but the perception is definitely there.

With Apple WWDC 2013 starting today, consumers and investors alike are hoping to hear something that gets them fired up. While this may be the case, don’t expect the company to talk in depth about new hardware. For example, if you are hoping to learn more about a cheaper iPhone you are likely to come away disappointed.

Apple Inc (AAPL)Instead, it is thought that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will take this time to roll out iOS 7. While there is nothing wrong with unveiling new software, it is not likely enough to get people excited.

For a better idea of where Apple stands right now and what to expect at WWDC 2013, we don’t have to look any further than Tom Forte, managing director at Telsey Advisory Group.

Forte recently took part in a discussion on CNBC, and shared some good information on Apple and his take on what is going on.

Here is what he had to say:

“The company had tremendous momentum last year going into the launch of the iPhone 5. They have stumbled as of late. They had the patent loss to Samsung, Google has a lot of operating momentum, and then the tax issues on Capitol Hill. So, very different this year than last for Apple.”

This is nothing new to those who follow Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), but it is important to take an overview of what has happened as of late and compare it to where the company stood last year.

The host then asked Forte if we are going to see anything of great importance from WWDC 2013:

“Very important event and I think it is an opportunity for them to recapture the spotlight in a positive means. Their ecosystem is still very valuable, and I anticipate at the minimum seeing an update or preview of their upcoming operating system…don’t anticipate much on the hardware side.”

As you can see, Forte shares the same opinion as many when it comes to what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will focus on at WWDC 2013.
