How One Company is Using Google Inc (GOOG) Maps for Business

Many people are familiar with the use of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Maps for tasks such as finding directions. But did you know that Google Maps for Business has a lot to offer as well? While this may not be something you can use in your day to day business life, many are beginning to realize that it is perfect for them.

How One Company is Using Google Inc (GOOG) Maps for Business

In a recent post on the official Google Blog, Guy Willoughby, Executive Director of the HALO Trust, talks about how his organization uses Google Maps for Business to clear landmines across the world.

As you can see, not only is this organization using Google Maps for Business, but it is doing so in a way that is helping save lives and better the world in which we live. Does it get any better than that?

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Improves Safety

In the blog post, Willoughby discusses the ins and outs of his organization, including the fact that they need to keep their teams in the field as safe as possible. After all, there is nothing safe about trying to clear active landmines.

To improve safety, HALO Trust relies heavily on Google Earth Pro. With maps from this application, it is easier for the HALO team to find and map at-risk areas. Due to the fact that it uses the same technology as Google Maps, those using the program do not need advanced expertise to get involved. In other words, it is a tool that most employees are familiar with since they have been using it in their personal lives. Subsequently, it is much easier for them to start mapping without any learning curve.

It may not sound like Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has much to do with HALO Trust, but its tools, such as Google Maps for Business, have gone a long way in keeping employees safe while also saving lives throughout the world.

Thanks to the use of Google’s mapping tools, HALO has been able to remove thousands of landmines with many more to come in the future.

It is amazing that such as simple tool could be used by an organization as advanced as HALO Trust.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) continues to show that it is concerned with the well being of others, not just its bottom line. And that is why these hedge fund managers continue to invest heavily:

Christopher Hansen, Robert Karr, Daniel Benton, Gregory Bylinsky, and Sandy Nairn.
