Google Inc (GOOGL)’s 2015 YouTube Music Awards Today, After 1-Year Hiatus

After a one-year hiatus, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s 2015 YouTube Music Awards happens today.

The awards will feature more artists, the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) site announced and will begin today 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

The last YouTube Music Awards happened in November 2013. The event was unconventional, to say the least, as it was hosted by Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts who were prohibited by YouTube itself from rehearsing before the actual show. Schwartzman and Watts also scavenged for the awards winners between performances from artists like Eminem, Lady Gaga, Tyler, the Creator and Avicii.

Last year, the site announced that it will do away with the format of the past YouTube Music Awards. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) says that this year’s YouTube Music Awards will be presented by primary sponsor Kia.

YouTube has actually already announced the winners but it’s unclear how they will be honored. What the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) site has let on, however, is that at least 13 videos will be posted on the YouTube Music Awards channel honoring the 50 winners for this year. The videos will be uploaded 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

YouTuber Tyler Oakley has been tapped as the “virtual” host for the awards which means he will be providing commentary on his own channel about the winners featured in the videos to be uploaded.
