“Facebook helping people locating missing loved ones. The social network’s safety check app asks users in an area affected by disaster or tragedy if they are safe. Contacts can also find friends in the area and in turn get notified about their status,” Brennan reported.

She added that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has also developed a similar app which helps people in locating the missing people, which they call it as ‘Person Finder’. She added that this app from Google functions as a missing person database. Google’s app helps the user in updating their status in the tool, which can notify the family members about the whereabouts and trace them.

Facebook’s safety check was first developed in 2011, soon after the Tsunami devastation in Japan. This app functions as a very helpful tool during natural disasters. This tool helped many people in locating their loved ones during the natural disaster in Japan and this tool is helping people in Nepal at the moment.
