Eric Sprott Takes Activist Stakes in Two Canadian Miners: Veris Gold & Atna Resources

Veris Gold Corp, Atna Resources, Sprott Asset Management: According to two recent SEC filings, Eric Sprott‘s Sprott Asset Management purchased activist stakes in two new Canadian-based mining companies. In this way, Sprott now owns 28.8% of Veris Gold Corp (TSE:VG). The position involves some 42.98 million shares, which have an aggregate price of some $22.77 million (23.64 million CAD), at the current stock price of the company.


In a second filing, Sprott revealed holding 39.08 millon shares of Atna Resources Ltd. (TSE:ATN). The position represents 21.4% of the company. Sprott has not disclosed ownership of Veris Gold or Atna Resources shares in its latest 13F.
