Could This Apple Inc. (AAPL) Delay Spell Trouble for Cupertino?

When it comes to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices, consumers all over the world are always craving the next big thing. They want to know what Cupertino is going to announce next, even if the anticipated arrival is not for many months down the line. Late last week, we talked a bit about why the most recent iPad mini may be delayed (check out the surprising story here).

Now, we have some more information courtesy of Digitimes. While rumors from this source do not always end up being true, here is what you need to know:

“Apple’s next generation iPad mini may not go into mass production until the fourth quarter of 2013, which will likely bring about a 2014 release date for the device, according to industry supply chain sources.

Apple is reportedly aiming to use Retina panel technology equipped with 2,048 by 1,536 resolution in the next generation 7.9-inch iPad mini. Apple is also said to be revising the design of the chassis to give the next-generation iPad mini an almost bezel-free look.”

This is quite disappointing for many, especially those who have been waiting to purchase an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini.

While the new device may not make its way to market until next year, the same story goes on to add that Apple may release a “slightly updated version” sometime during the second half of 2013. This may not be exactly what consumers were hoping for, but the sources stated that the updated device could be lighter and thinner while also having improved specifications.

With all this news about the next generation mini, some are forgetting about the newest Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) full size iPad. Here is more on this front:

“The fifth-generation iPad 5 is expected to start production in small amounts during July 2013 followed by volume shipments of 2-3 million units in August and September. As of October, shipments of the device are expected to increase another 25-30%, the sources believe.”

In true Apple fashion, the company is not going to do anything until every last detail is in line.
