Columbia Wanger Asset Management Loves Boingo Wireless, Closes Out on This Trio

Columbia Wanger Asset Management, LLC has been very active this morning, updating its stakes in four of its passive holdings. According to several filings with the SEC, Columbia Wanger Asset Management closed its position in three companies: Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc (NYSE:PNK), in which it had owned over 2.9 million shares, TriCo Bancshares (NASDAQ:TCBK), previously represented by a 1.4 million-share stake, and Entravision Communication (NYSE:EVC).

At the same time, Columbia Wanger also disclosed ownership of almost 3.7 million shares of Boingo Wireless Inc (NASDAQ:WIFI), which is equal to over 10% of the company. This represents a slight increase from about the firm’s latest 13F filing.

Last month, Boingo Wireless, a company engaged in provison of Wi-Fi and DAS services worldwide, shared it was signing an agreement in which it will acquire Advanced Wireless Group, one of the largest airport Wi-Fi providers in the U.S. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

Louis Bacon’s Moore Global Investments own over 2.8 million shares of Boingo Wireless, followed by Amy Minella’s Cardinal Capital, and Mark N. Diker’s Diker Management, which hold around 761,600 shares and 476,900 shares respectively.
