1. Boulder, CO

No, Boulder and Seattle are not on this list simply because they both legalized Marijuana in the past two years, but that’s definitely a factor. The legalization of Marijuana has been a debate that has drawn a clear line between conservative and Liberal beliefs. These areas voting to Legalize shows a Liberal representation in government, but it’s more than that. The University of Colorado at Boulder is not only a very good, Liberal school, but also is responsible for a large portion of the population and economic happenings.

The stimulus to the Boulder economy that is provided by the University allows for the student’s voices and ideals to be heard on an elevated platform. Essentially, even if there was Conservative sentiment throughout the city, the fear of potential economic downfall is enough to keep the Liberal movement at the forefront.

As with every city on this list, the economy is a major factor when ranking the  seven most Liberal cities in the US, and there you have it.
